It’s official – ATLUS have finally confirmed that Persona 5 is on its way, exclusively on the PS3 in Winter 2014. The announcement has been teased by a countdown on the ATLUS website for the past two months, but the decision to have the game on the PS3 rather than the incoming PS4 has caught some fans off guard (although it is notable that both Persona 3 & Persona 4 arrived late in the PS2’s lifespan). The first trailer they released today, featuring chairs chained in manacles, gives little away – you can watch it below.
In addition there are three new games incoming based around the world of Persona 4; a dancing rhythm game for the PS Vita entitled Persona 4: Dancing All Night, a PS3 version of the arcade fighter Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold (an enhanced version of Persona 4: Arena) and finally a 3DS RPG called Persona Q: Shadow Of The Labyrinth featuring chibi versions of the Persona characters (slated for a June 5th release in Japan).
None of the four announcements contained details of a possible release in the Western world.
